Game Log 1 – Experience

Game idea 1: Escape room with destroying the paintings

The EU value that we want to address by our games in freedom, more specifically freedom of expression. In museums, we mostly can only interact with images by looking at them. We are not allowed to touch them. In this game, the player could interact with the art using more senses. We want to make people think about their right of freedom of expression and the fine line between expressing our right of freedom and interfering with the rights of others.

The player will have to find a specific way to destroy each painting. The tool for destroying it will always be somehow connected to the things that are in the painting. For example, if there is a picture of a battlefield, the player will have to find and select a sword and then a big sword will appear in their hand that they will need to use to destroy the picture.

We also want to research how destroying art makes people feel. It could have similar effects like a rage room. Or on the other hand, they might realize that it does not feel good to get rid of the art. That might lead to people appreciating the art better.

We chose the following parts of the ideation wheel for this game:
Freedom - Puzzle/Adventure - Cultural Gameworld - Rewriting History/Reality

Game idea 2: Talking to the people on the paintings

In this idea we came up with a storytelling game where you interact with people of the paintings. You can ask them what happened or how they feel, which will maybe evoke some feelings inside you also. Depending on which things you ask, they could end the conversation early or go into more detail. Since typing words with AR is inconvenient, the user would rather choose from three options how to answer. Could be combined with the escape room. Conversations could offer hints.

We chose the following parts of the ideation wheel for this game:
Freedom - Simulations/Senses - Cultural Stories - Rewriting History/Reality
