Game log 3

We performed the play test with another group from our class. The main fishing idea is already implemented, however the puzzle (collecting) part is yet to be developed.

A video of the current state of the game is available through the following link:

Feedback from the other team:

Their first impression was that we have a clear idea how the game should look like. Even though we are at the beginning of our development and we use simple geometric objects instead of more complicated assets that we plan on using later on, they could already see the main fishing functions implemented and it was easy for them to imagine what the game is supposed to look like later on.

About how the game made them feel or think they said that it’s a really good idea to fish artifacts and it requires imagination which is interesting. They liked the vision that if the object is in the water, it is not easy to see what exact part of the painting it is but once you manage to grab it with your hand you will see it clearly. This adds excitement and a gamification aspect.

About the cultural heritage and values they said, that right now there is no connection between our game and the Human Nature exhibition or cultural heritage. However, we explained to our testers the direction in which our development is going and they can see the future connection to the artwork.

They liked the analogy between fishing and saving the art.

In general, we got positive feedback for making an engaging game. Our testers particularly enjoyed the interaction between the fishing rod and objects that we are fishing for. They liked that once the cube which works as a hook is close to any object, the object gets attached to it. We also discussed that it is important to be able to pull the object outside of water and grab it with a hand which is not possible yet.

About improving our game: if we would have more artifacts and more rounds with different levels that would make the game more connected to culture.
